Overview & Highlights

Welcome to Casa Ballen, a charming bar & grill located in the heart of Sanlucar de Barrameda. This culinary gem at 7, Pl. de San Roque, 1 boasts a delightful blend of local flavors and a warm, inviting atmosphere that captivates both tourists and locals alike.

The moment you step inside or take a seat at one of their outdoor tables, you'll be enveloped by the tantalizing aromas wafting from the kitchen, promising a culinary adventure that emphasizes traditional Spanish cuisine. Known for its casual yet vibrant ambiance, Casa Ballen is the perfect spot to unwind with friends or family after a busy day of exploration.

Start your day with a traditional breakfast that has become a beloved routine for many who stay in the town. Customer Sarah Donovan praises the efficient and friendly staff, a testament to the hospitality that defines this establishment. If you're lucky, you'll snag a table on the patio, adorned with colorful umbrellas that offer welcome shade as you sip on a refreshing Tinto or a chilled sherry, just as Katherine Frederick recommends.

As for the food, prepare for your taste buds to be delighted. The Revuelto Campero, a heavenly scramble of eggs with seasonal vegetables, is popular for a reason—it sets a comforting tone for the day. Pair it with the brocheta de pollo con jamón, featuring perfectly cooked chicken skewers wrapped in jamón, which has received rave reviews for its generous portions and beautiful presentation. Maurico Reygadas found the simple yet satisfying flavors in the vegetables served with the brocheta to be a delightful surprise.

For those looking for more casual dining options, try the pimientos fritos, which Katherine suggests as an absolute must-try. The crunchy fried peppers perfectly complement the everyday tapas experience that Casa Ballen embodies. And don’t forget to take advantage of their menu del día, described by Rick James as excellent value, offering a variety of dishes that showcase the freshness of local ingredients.

But it’s not just the food that makes Casa Ballen special; it’s also the atmosphere. The bar & grill serves as a trendy spot for locals to relax, socializing over clams and manzanilla, another popular choice for those looking to indulge a bit further. Bill Hepler highlights how it’s an ideal location for people-watching, allowing you to soak in the lively energy of Sanlucar while enjoying your meal.

Whether you're starting your day with breakfast or unwinding after an adventure, Casa Ballen offers an authentic taste of Sanlucar that will leave a lasting impression. Make sure to stop by and experience the charm, delicious food, and friendly service that has captured the hearts of many!

Enjoy having a traditional breakfast here when we're staying in the town. Efficient and friendly staff. Can be extremely busy for breakfast which is an indication of how popular it is locally.

I was very intrigued in this place as I walk by it very often. It has mixed reviews and I am not so sure why. I was honestly left surprised. The prices are great. The portions were even better. I ordered the Revuelto Campero as the first dish and the brocheta de pollo con jamón as my second dish. I think it is important to know that they brought out the vegetables on the brocheta in the most perfect state. It wasn’t burnt, it wasn’t undercooked it had that little bit of char and that little bit of crunch it was just wonderful. Both plates come with bread, drink, and dessert all for €12.50!! It was not that busy when I went. I came around 13:30 on Monday. The food came out quite fast, and the service was great.

Very good food and the menu del dia is excellent value. Nice shady spot and friendly, relaxed service. Well recommended.

Always a great experience. nice place to relax and people watch. Today we had Clams and mazanilla, mmm.

When in Sanlucar, be sure to stop here to have some delicious food and a cold Tinto or sherry. The outside seating is lovely, as there are many umbrellas to provide shade from the sun. The service was friendly & efficient and the food is very tasty. I would highly recommend the pimientos fritos!
